Spending time in the Mara
For our home learning, one of the challenges has been to get into the garden and care for our environment. Check out James planting some pumpkin seeds. They were the seeds they collected from the pumpkins grown last year.
Karate Tournament
A week ago I had a karate tournament and guess what... I was the only white belt and I cam in 3rd place. The fun part was making friends and I enjoyed my first tournament.
Meeting a paralympian
One Saturday I met Anna Grimaldi. I went to Dunedin because she lives there. We went to a cafe to talk and I got to wear her gold medal and it was so heavy. It was really great to meet her.

P.E. Term 4
Today we begun the term participating in a rotation of activities; skipping, hula hoops, ladder races, obstacle course, goal kicking, netball shooting. We had lots of fun and it was impressive to see who could hula hoop for the longest and how many skips the children could do in a row (51).
See photos from the session below.

Swimming Term 3
In the last two weeks of Term 3, Room 5/6 had swimming lessons. The lessons focus on swimming technique, with the last week focusing more on water safety, e.g. how to enter deep water safely, being on a boat and what you take (flares, bailer, beacon), treading water and how our clothing weighs us down.
Each lesson would begin with a safety focus e.g. what to do it a rip, how to get a life guards attention, what to do if someone is drowning close to you.
It was lots of fun and great to see everyones confidence build and enjoy being in the water.
Classroom Plays
To finish off Term 3, Room 5/6 performed plays to one another. It was a lot of fun and great to see everyone's drama skills.
