Jumping for joy!

Joy or Harikoa is sharing good news, smiling, laughing now matter what, being grateful, making other people happy, a growth mindset, being a good friend, doing one of your favourite things.

Some things that make us joyful in Ruma 6 are helping others,  playing with my sisters, singing, playing games with our friends and family, playing with others who have no one to play with,  playing instruments.

For our joyful virtues lesson today we sang the song I have joy down in my heart. We played classroom instruments to make a beat with the song. It was good, awesome and amazing.

Here is the song we sang.

Here we are making a beat with our instruments

Life Education with Harold!

This week we were lucky to have the Life Education Trust at NBC. We were introduced to the "Head Hassler" and the "Mind Master". We learnt that it is okay when a situation feels frustrating or negative, we call this a Head Hassler but with the help of a Mind Master, we can turn these into positives or learning steps.

We will continue to be fantastic Mind Masters!

Cricket Fun

On Tuesday's we join Georgia from Canterbury Sports for all sorts of fun and learning in Physical Education.

Last Tuesday were also lucky enough to have Ryan from Canterbury Cricket in for the session. With the inflatable jumping mat, we were able to practice our running, catching, and diving skills.

Check out the photos of us in action!

Lent in Room 6

To mark the beginning of Lent we made pancakes to celebrate Shrove Tuesday. This is all about cooking what you had in your pantry so that you can live simply during Lent. Here are photos below of the students preparing and enjoying the pancakes.

We have also been learning about different forms of prayer, using worship songs, Ignatian prayers of observing nature and meditation. Here are some photos of the children paying attention to nature in our beautiful sensory garden.
